The Music Ministry of a church is one of few ministries that involve all ages and maturity levels. Even the person who never sings a solo, sings in the choir, or plays an instrument is involved in the Music Ministry when they attend the services. As a part of the Music Ministry, a person has the opportunity to impact the lives of many different people. This ministry is about more than just singing songs and playing music. It is about worship, discipleship, and evangelism; all in the name of Jesus Christ.
Music Ministry Mission Statement: The mission of the Music Ministry at Bethel Baptist Church is to lead people to become fully devoted followers of Christ through:

• Worship—We worship God through biblical praise and adoration. We also lead other believers to encounter God through biblical worship.
• Discipleship—We teach biblical principles through our songs as we worship.
• Evangelism—We reach non-believers in our community for Christ as a result of encountering God during our worship

The Adult Choir & Praise Band is featured in Sunday worship services and in many ways sets the tone for every aspect of this ministry. God has richly blessed our church with many already involved in the blessed experience of leading worship through music. Still, our choirs and instrumental groups are open to anyone and everyone that wants to be a part of leading a dynamic expression of praise.

Worship Services
The music time in the worship services here at Bethel Baptist Church is exciting. We use a combination of piano, keyboard, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, and drums along with our Adult Choir every Sunday morning. The Sunday evening services vary between being led by our Student Choir and the Praise Team. We incorporate the use of the great hymns of our faith (done in a variety of ways), choruses, gospel songs, as well as new contemporary songs. All of our accompaniment is rhythm driven using our praise band. Our goal is not as much focused on a particular style of music as it is on participatory worship.

Adult Choir
This choir is the main worship-leading group in the Music Ministry of our church. The Adult Choir is an all-volunteer choir open to anyone that has graduated from high school. In addition to the normal Sunday selections, this choir generally presents two or three musicals each year. The two main musicals are Christmas and Easter, with an occasional Tenebrae service every few years. The other musical varies between a non-seasonal and a Patriotic musical.
Rehearsal time: Rehearsals are held in the Choir Room every Wednesday from 7:35 – 8:35 pm immediately following our Prayer Service.

Student (Youth) Choir
The Student Choir is for students in grades 7 through 12. This choir leads in the evening worship service twice per month. It is my desire for this choir to be mission-minded and get “outside the walls.” Just as with the Adult Choir, this is a worship-leading group. Consistent opportunities to sing throughout the entire year help this choir to excel. One musical and/or mission trip each year is the goal for this choir. This choir rehearses year round.
Rehearsal time: Rehearsals are held in the Choir Room every Sunday from
4:30 – 5:15 pm.

Children’s Choirs
The children’s choirs are an exciting and important part of our Music Ministry. We have three age groups for these choirs. The children present a Christmas musical and Spring Sing each year as well as Family night at VBS in the summer. The Children’s Choirs take a short break during the summer months.

Preschool Choir: The Preschool Choir is for children ages 4 through kindergarten. Rehearsal time: Rehearsals are held downstairs in the Preschool Room every Wednesday from 6:00 – 6:45 pm.

Music Makers: The Music Makers Choir is for students in grades 1 through 3.
Rehearsal time: Rehearsals are held in the Children’s Church Room upstairs every Wednesday from 6:00 – 6:45 pm.

Young Musicians: The Young Musicians Choir is for students in grades 4 through 6.
Rehearsal time: Rehearsals are held in the Choir Room every Wednesday from 6:00 – 6:45 pm.

Joyful Singers (Sr. Adult Choir)
This group of singers is a fun and exciting group. They present one musical in the fall of each year. It is open to anyone age 55 and older. Many in this group participate in our Adult Choir as well.
Rehearsal time: Rehearsals are held in the Choir Room every 1st and 3rd Tuesday from 9:30 – 10:20 am.

Vocal Groups
The Praise Teams are selected groups of singers from the Adult Choir (SSAATT) that help lead worship on Sunday evening in rotation with the Student Choir. Once again, these groups are worship-leading groups. The singers involved in this ministry must first be actively involved in one of our choirs and committed to rehearsals.
Rehearsal time: Rehearsals are held in the Sanctuary every Sunday from 5:00 – 6:00 pm.

Instrumental Music
Bethel Baptist Church is blessed to have so many talented musicians. The Praise Band is the foundation for our Music Ministry. This group accompanies the Adult Choir, Praise Team, and congregation every Sunday. Other instrumentation is added at special times of the year. Offertories are another way for musicians to offer their praise to God through their music. The Offertory Music schedule is made for three months at a time.

Solo Ministry
Every service will have one or more selections by a soloist or soloists. The Worship Music schedule is made for three months at a time. No auditions are required. However, all soloists MUST be a FAITHFUL part of one of our choirs or instrumental groups.

Sound enhancement
For each worship service, special Sound Enhancement Receivers for the hearing impaired are available from an usher.
